This is a Facebook app. This app is a subsidiary of the Facebook messenger app. The messenger lite app is one that includes most of the features that the app includes so just in case you are hoping to see something different, you will be disappointed. However, this app has some slight differences from the main messenger app. What the Facebook lite app is to Facebook, this app is to the Facebook messenger app.

I have already mentioned in this article that this app works in a similar fashion as the main messenger app. Just that this app has some slight differences from the main app. On this app, you don’t get to see many menu options at the top of the messenger page and at the bottom. - Messages.
- Account.
With this app, you can send and receive messages. You can also make voice and video calls. Also on this app you can send stickers, record voice messages, and mute and block other users and so much more.
The Facebook Messenger Vs The Facebook Messenger Lite App
Don’t be confused about this header. The two apps are pretty the same. But although they are the same and the messenger lite has some of the core features of the messenger app, there are few differences. And I will be discussing them with you in a bit.
Firstly I will be starting with the contacts feature on these apps. On the lite messenger app, when you make a switch to the contacts tab, you will see a list of people who make use of messenger. You will also see a search field at the top of this page or tab and this is the only thing you will see here. on the main messenger app, you will see the option to scan QR codes, view request to contacts, invite friends, upload contacts and also view all your Facebook friends in alphabetical order. And this is more complex than the messenger lite app.
On the messages tab on this app, unlike the main messenger app, you will see conversations you engaged in recently and your friends who are also currently active. On this page though, there are no options to search your conversations or to start a new conversation. With this page, you can start a new group conversation and do this, tap on the blue-coloured plus icon at the bottom right corner of the page.
On the chat window in the messenger lite you can do pretty everything you do on the main messenger app, but photos sent to you won’t load in full resolution and, to, therefore, view images in full resolution you will need to first tap on them to view. On this app, you also cannot play games or access other extensions such as the Spotify extension.
The app sizes of these two are different. The lite app is way smaller in size than the main app. This app takes 90% less storage when compared to the main app. Since it is very light, it, therefore, saves your devices battery life and data. This app can run on 2G networks and old devices.

- Open your devices app store (Google play store or the Apple app store)
- On your devices app store, search for messenger lite using the search bar.

Know that you will be prompted or required to log in to your Facebook account before you can make use of this app. Therefore if you know you don’t have a Facebook account, you need to create one now.
